Have you thought about podcasting?

Do you feel connected to your customers?

Do you want to add more value to your audience?

Building trust and rapport are two key priorities when it comes to growing your business and selling more. We all know that consumers need to know, like, and trust before they buy.

Customers also need quite a few touchpoints before they purchase.

According to Hubspot, eight touchpoints is a good benchmark number. However, for every industry and buyer persona that can differ.

And that number of touchpoints might increase if you have a long sales cycle or you are selling high-ticket items. Your customer needs to have a proper think before parting with their cash.

If you’re selling plastic plug covers at 30p, then podcasting might not be your best strategy (slightly lacking in content!). But if, for example, you’re a plant-based food brand or a health and wellbeing tech platform with lots of exciting things to talk about (and people to interview), then podcasting might work well.

If you want to position yourself or your business as an expert or authority in your space, then again. it’s a great way to get that across.

People do business with people they like, and people buy from brands that they resonate with.

This is where podcasting comes in – it can strengthen the bond between both parts. You want your people to know, like, and trust you. Have you thought about podcasting before?

More and more companies are getting their employees engaged in podcasting. It’s a great way to show listeners the real ‘behind the scenes’ of your business. Something that David Nebinski and I talked about on the first episode of my podcast.

Why launch a podcast?

I met David on The Podcasting Fellowship with Seth Godin, he was my first interviewee (I was so nervous!) but with the course and his help, I fell in love with podcasting.

David, the host of Portfolio Career Podcast, told me,

“If you are looking to learn from advisors and develop “real” relationships with your partners, a podcast is a productive and mutually benefiting way to do so! Business is built on trust and relationships. A podcast helps you with this in a fun way!”

Lucy Cleland, Editor at Country & Townhouse, has recently launched a new podcast with Ed Vaizey, former UK Culture Minister, called Lockdown Culture.

When I asked her reasons why she said

“Because we want to develop new ways to reach our audience with fresh and exciting content, especially as we are not publishing a print issue until July. It’s another way of connecting to our audience and bringing them something quite useful too! I acted on the info in the podcast – after all, Ed was Minister for Culture!”

Amy Perkins, Award-Winning Educator, Clarity and Confidence Coach and Podcast host of Keys To Courage, told me:

“Podcasting gives potential clients a chance to see if you are the one that can help solve their problem before they ever interact with you. It speeds up the trust and rapport process. It’s an invaluable tool!”

There you have it. Lots of reasons why you might think about podcasting for your business. It’s a great way to create content and that content can then be repurposed in many ways.

It does take time and effort but it’s a great way to connect with your audience.

You might resist the idea initially but being open to learning can help us overcome the resistance that we often feel when starting new projects.

Are you up for it?
