In this first episode of Starting to Scale with Emmie Faust, I talk to David Nebinski. David is a podcast host and coach in Seth Godin’s The Podcasting Fellowship. Click here to listen to Starting to Scale with Emmie Faust on your podcasting app.

David has a podcast called the Portfolio Career Podcast. I met him the first time round in TPF (and then again when I did TPF4).  We became friends the first time around when I launched a podcast called Feel Great Podcast and then picked up again in TPF4 where David was always there to push me forward and offer me help.

Topics covered:

Building trust and rapport and why that is great for businesses, especially those with a long sales cycle or high-ticket items.

If you’re selling plastic plug covers at 30p, then podcasting might not be your best strategy. But if you’re a PR agency with a large monthly retainer and have lots of interesting things to talk about, then podcasting might work really well.

Getting people to know, like, trust you. People do business with people they like, and they need a number of interactions before they are ready to buy.

Resistance in podcasting – how accountability and being open to learning can help us overcome the resistance that we often feel when starting new projects.

Companies getting their employees engaged in podcasting which is a great way to show listeners the real ‘behind the scenes’ of your business.

Human Connection and why it’s so important to make every interaction matter. We talked about Brian Miller’s brilliant Podcast, One New Person.

Thanks to Ria Hebden who did a mini testimonial for me at the end of the episode. Ria asked me to sit on the Advisory Board of her business Wonder Women TV and it’s great to see this marvellous project really take off the ground!
